Dakota County currently has limited transit options on east-west corridors throughout the county. This makes east-west travel to and from neighborhoods and activity centers challenging for those traveling via transit. As a first step, Dakota County has undertaken the Dakota County East-West Transit Study to evaluate improved transit options for east-west corridors.
In 2016, Dakota County has worked with members of the community and key stakeholders to evaluate and develop a list of east-west corridor alternatives. The final plan includes recommendations that will be shared with Metro Transit, the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and communities in the County.
The next steps will include evaluation of the corridors recommended for further consideration through each transit agency's established review process which will be a systemwide comparison.
